Can Wikipedia Ever Make the Grade?

I just got done reading the article “Can Wikipedia Ever Make the Grade?” by Brock Read. It is a very interesting article about the differences in opinions about people who trust Wikipedia as a legitimate encyclopedia and those who do not. Personally, I love Wikipedia and use it to verify a lot of information I hear. But I never use it as a source for the final word on graded papers. It is still too wary as to if the information is legitimate or not. I think it is very interesting how Wikipedia is not focused on expanding but more so on the quality of their articles. I was also impressed by the story of Dr. al-Halawi and how the editors picked out his false comments within a matter of hours. Even if you can’t source Wikipedia directly it really helps shave off some research time. It is also great for its sister sites such as Wikiquote (a collection of quotations) and Wikispecies (a directory of species). I think it would be really awesome if professors would become more involved with the “Wiki” movement. The more educated brain’s the better!!To end on a funny thought: if you said Wiki just 10 years ago people would look at you strange but now it is simply integrated into all of our vocabularies!
